What To Do—and Not Do—After You Hook Up with Your Cute Coworkerby Cosmopolitan on June 19, 2013
According to a newly released survey, over 50 percent of people have gotten busy with a colleague. Sound familiar? To help you navigate the aftermath, we turned to relationship expert and matchmaker Susan Trombetti. Here are her dos and don’ts after doing the dirty with someone from work.
1. DO: Choose Your Office Sex Buddy Wisely
Before jumping into bed with that hottie in the next cube, do some due diligence. Aside from the precautions you’d take before going out with any other guy (i.e. making sure he doesn’t have a rap sheet), take a pass on sexing it up with your superior. If word gets out, colleagues will think you’re sleeping your way to the top and that gossip will spread like wildfire.
2. DON’T: Ignore the Emotional Implications
The biggest mistake women make before sleeping with a colleague is not considering what could happen emotionally when a work fling ends. As in, would you be okay with having to look at the guy—and work with him—every day? Yes? Okay, go for it.
3. DON’T: Walk in Together
If the deed is already done, you should never walk in together or even arrive together. Unless you’re going to start officially dating—and need to disclose the situation per company policy—keep the sexcapades on the DL.
