In a move that will shock Nair lovers everywhere, science (or in particular Emily Gibson, MD) reveals the evolutionary and hygienic reasons for keeping your pubic thicket.  Apparently your bush serves a vital purpose of preventing infections and sexually transmitted diseases.

As stated in her article, Dr. Gibson purports that a hairless groin leads to a rise in hair follicle infections, cellulitis, MRSA and increased susceptiblity to contracting herpes. Dr. Gibson also takes time from her busy schedule of telling us all about our infected yet smooth crotches to delve into the reasons this culture of hairlessness has come about. She cites “it has to do with cultural trends spawned by bikinis and thongs, certain hairless actors and actresses, a desire to return to childhood,  a misguided attempt at hygiene or being more attractive to a partner.” And now I have another reason, other than sheer laziness and lack of will, to not have a bikini body.

So do yourself and society a favor and wear your bush proudly and with the confidence that you are doing the right thing — for your health.
