When thinking of “movie stars,” it’s easy to immediately reference the old-school glamor of actors whose distinct beauty forced the world to obsess over them. Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, and Elizabeth Taylor are still gracing dorm room walls across the world. But don’t their faces seem classic? Is there something about them that appeals to us as humans?
Swedish artist George Chamoun created the series Iconatomy as an investigation into this concept, merging two movie star icons from different eras to form one ideal image. The results are astounding.
Scarlett Johansson and Marilyn Monroe
Robert Pattinson and James Dean
