The ‘50 Shades of Grey’ Lingerie Collection Is Shockingly Not Sexy

50 shades

Swiss fashion retailer KappAhl has just unveiled their new 50 Shades of Grey lingerie collection, and surprisingly not actually at all surprisingly, the collection is pretty tame. Other than the color palette — grey, mostly — the line of bras, panties, and negligees looks more or less like every other collection of bras, panties, and negligees.

According to the KappAhl spokesperson, that’s because they’re going for “what they imagined the female readers of 50 Shades of Grey would wear and feel sensual in,” and what they’d feel sensual in just happens to be already available at Victoria’s Secret except not as pink. It’s a profoundly missed design opportunity, but it’s possible the book’s “thrilling deviance” is just too thrillingly deviant to be captured in mainstream undergarments. But why are there not actually 50 shades? I watched the fashion show. 10 shades of grey here, tops.
