San Antonio, Texas is the most romantic city in the U.S. — at least, based on its sweetly sexy online purchasing history. According to Amazon’s annual Top 20 Most Romantic Cities in the United States study, San Antonians buy more romance novels, relationship books, romantic comedy movies, romantic music, and “sexual wellness products” than residents of any other American city.
Other options, based on Amazon’s analysis of what romance looks like, include Seattle, WA (number 2), Orlando, FL (6), Dayton, OH (10), and Murfreesboro, TN (13). The Pacific Northwest is super-romantic, boasting four cities in the top 20 — the salmon! the coffee! the many, many copies of Sleepless in Seattle! — and the Midwest is pretty tender, too, with four representatives of its own. The South, unsurprisingly, wins the grand prize, with nine cities on the list. Romantics should steer clear of the Eastern Seaboard, though — apparently, everyone is cold and heartless here, or at least, everyone is watching their romcoms on Netflix.
