After a devastating few weeks for the LGBTQ community in light of the Orlando massacre, Sunday’s Pride march came at a passionate time. New York City law enforcement planned for the largest Pride march in the cities history and amidst the mourning a beautiful moment was captured below.
“This parade is monumental for us because of the Orlando shooting. It hit really close to home. We wanted to walk in the parade in honor of the 49 victims, said FDNY EMT Julianna Arroyo, from Station 20 in the Bronx. “At the same time, I wanted to give [girlfriend, now-fiancée] Erika something positive to remember from the parade.”
Erika was surprised, and the crowd was overjoyed. Love is love, and love is so good! Congratulations to the happy couple!
