Everyone has their own definition of romance. When it comes to popping the big question, the game plan is tailored from that thinking. One couple might take a rowboat out on to the water for a scenic sunset and a glass of champagne. Another might wrangle their entire family and hit the local Best Buy. Different strokes for different folks.
As a New Yorker, I feel confident in saying that the below video, featuring “Frank” catching his girlfriend “Alyssa” totally off-guard with a adorable, surprise proposal, is the most Staten Island moment ever captured on camera. First off, it takes place at a Staten Island Best Buy. Why? It’s probably safe to assume that either the two met there or Frank has occupational roots at Best Buy and got the hookup or Best Buy was the only place to fit 30 onlookers who cheered when Frank took a knee to ask his question.
Which brings me to the second point: family. Staten Islanders, more than any other New Yorkers from the outer boroughs, put their loved ones above everything else. Of course mom, dad, sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts, cousins, the guy from next door who shows up on Christmas morning despite no one knowing is real name, and the family dog all have to be around for Frank’s big moment. They’re family! And now, so is Alyssa.
If Best Buy doesn’t scream romance to you, watch Frank and Alyssa relive their relationship in glorious 1080p HD, screened across every TV in the store. That’s serious commitment to the love and that’s the way Staten Islanders do it.
