There’s a reason to be skeptical of a guy whose online dating handle is “HUGE12,” and it’s not the one you’re thinking of.

“HUGE12,” a 22-year-old Long Island man also known as Marquise J. Utsey, was arrested this week for using Adam4Adam, an online dating site for gay men, to meet up with and rob three unsuspecting victims.

On separate occasions, Utsey swiped a two men’s phones and after getting into their cars and threatening them with a gun and wielded a knife while demanding cash from a third man, Nassau County police reported. None of the reported three victims were injured. Detectives suspect Utsey reached more victims who haven’t yet come forth.

Utsey finally got busted after he offered to perform a sex act for cash on an undercover detective who had arranged to meet up with Utsey via his Adam2Adam alter ego. Utsey faces three counts of first-degree robbery and one count of prostitution. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 13.

But seriously, Adam4Adam? It’s the jankiest of all the gay hookup sites and, because it’s free, mostly attracts young guys. If you’re going to use the internet to burgle, you might as well go after the older, wealthier guys who pay money to use Manhunt. And in the age of very free mobile apps like Grindr and Scruff, maybe paying to get laid is the real highway robbery.
