8 Celebrity Divorces That Didn’t Lastby Lilit Marcus on April 08, 2013
Some celeb relationships are hopelessly short-lived…and likewise, some celeb breakups are as well. A few months ago, longtime couple Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito broke hearts around the world when they announced their separation. Fast forward to several weeks later, when they made another announcement: they were going to try and work it out. A losing battle? Perhaps. Regardless, they’re not the only star couple who decided to give their marriage another shot after a very public split. In fact, here are eight other couples who called off the divorce – or got married all over again.
Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor
Possibly the most famous celebrity couple ever, they made Brad and Angelina look like C-listers. They married, divorced, saw other people, married again, then divorced again. Although they didn’t make it last forever, they’ll always be thought of as a pair.
Pink and Carey Hart
Pink has never been one to shy away from controversy or from being honest about her personal life. Her hit single “So What” was about her split from motocross racer Carey Hart, who also appeared in the music video as a goodwill gesture. The video shoot caused them both to re-examine their feelings, and they wound up getting married all over again. They’re now also parents, having welcomed daughter Willow in 2011.
Kobe and Vanessa Bryant
When Vanessa Bryant filed for divorce from her basketball star husband in December 2011, cynics noted that the marriage had just passed the ten-year mark, meaning that Vanessa would be entitled to half her husband’s fortune under California’s community property law. However, the Bryants had the last laugh when they called off the divorce the next year, deciding that they wanted to make it work.
NeNe and Gregg Leakes
When the breakout star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and her husband split, it came at a time when he was dealing with bankruptcy and she was about to rake in cash from being cast on Glee and The New Normal. That prompted plenty of rumors that the divorce was just a trick to protect her money, and the eventual news that they were re-marrying less than two years later didn’t make the gossip die down any more.
Slash and Perla Ferrar
Long marriages aren’t really a staple in the rock world, but Guns N Roses guitarist slash and his wife Perla seem to have beaten the odds. After they filed for divorce, the couple then reconciled and eventually held a vow renewal in Ibiza for their ten-year wedding anniversary.
Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus
He used to be the Achy Breaky Heart guy, but now he’s better known as being Miley Cyrus’ dad. Following rumors that wife Tish had had an affair with Bret Michaels, Billy Ray filed for divorce in 2011, only to change his mind and withdraw the papers a few months later. Reportedly, their three kids had a lot to do with the reconciliation, as did a move away from Los Angeles.
Rosetta and Balthazar Getty
When the actor and oil heir Balthazar Getty was caught in the tabloids hooking up with Sienna Miller, his wife Rosetta immediately filed separation papers. The PR was so bad that Getty was fired from his job as a regular cast member on Brothers and Sisters. Eventually, Balthazar and Sienna broke up and he went home to his wife and four kids.
Jenelle Evans and Courtland Rogers
Keeping track of the troubled Teen Mom 2 star’s love life is practically a job in itself. Jenelle is 21 and had been engaged once already when she met and quickly married Courtland Rogers. The two dealt with a pregnancy, a miscarriage, drug problems, and an assault charge before making it to their third month together. After a big fight, Jenelle announced that they would be divorcing, but after a brief separation they got back together. By the time you finish reading this post, they may have broken up again.
