Sister Husbands: 2 Men Agree to Marry the Same Womanby Chiara Atik on August 26, 2013
Two men in Kenya have agreed to marry the same woman, and share responsibility of any children she bears, presumably regardless of paternity. Which is sort of dazzlingly progressive, given that most polygamous relationships are strictly multi-wife. (Not that I’m hating! Shout-out to Kody Brown and crew.)
Sylvester Mwendwa and Elijah Kimani decided upon the untraditional arrangement after realizing they’d both been having an affair with the same woman, and instead of, I dunno, dueling, or whatever men are wont to do in these situations, they decided to draft up a marriage agreement.
“Each one will respect the day set aside for him. We agree to love each other and live peacefully. No-one has forced us to make this agreement,” the agreement states.
