Great news, Potter fans! J.K. Rowling is writing a new movie that will be based in the fantastical world of Harry Potter! The script will be based off of the Hogwarts textbook she wrote entitled Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. We can finally shed that Post-Potter Depression we’ve been carrying around for years – there’s more to look forward to!
In light of this happy occasion, here’s a list of the greatest romances throughout the history of the Potter series.
Hagrid and Mme. Maxime
Oh man, don’t you just want all good things for Hagrid? His somewhat tumultuous relationship with the giantess headmistress of the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic was maybe the sweetest romance in the whole series – even if it’s unclear if they ended up together in the end. She had a real issue admitting she was a giant, which is unfortunate. Hagrid accepted her for who she was, couldn’t she SEE that?!
Harry and Cho Chang
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Harry and Ginny for life, whatever. The drama between Cho and Harry was THE BEST. He pined for her for years, she goes on to date Cedric/Robert Pattinson, HE DIES, and only then does she date Harry?! And then their loves dies because her stupid friend betrays the secret army they have started to, you know, PROTECT ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THE WORLD. I mean I could have watched a movie that was just based on their love story for the rest of my life.
Hermione and Victor Krum
I liked this brief pairing if not mostly because I thought it was high time Hermione got a little male attention, and from a super manly wizard dude at that! Go Hermione! But this duo was also great because it made Ron SUPER jealous. Which brings us to –
Hermione and Ron
Really, this is the ultimate love story of the whole Potter series. Painfully stretched out over seven long years, we got to watch these two awkwardly resist and their love for one another only to finally be brought together when a huge world war threatened to kill everyone they’d ever loved. This is the stuff of fantasies, people. I don’t know about you, but I lost my shit in that last scene of the last book where you see them as a happily married couple with little redhead kids because oh MAN, LOVE IS REAL.
Dumbledore and Grindelwald
Well, turns out even Dumbledore’s got a thing for bad boys because he was thisclose to enslaving all Muggles and turning them into a sort of zombie-army for wizards just because he had a crush on someone who turned out to be one of the most powerful Dark Wizards ever. Well, I guess we’ve all been there, Dumble. But where we haven’t been is in the position to have to kill the man you once loved because he’s become pure evil and only you are powerful enough to stop him. Talk about drama!
Snape and Lily Potter
Severus Snape was the best character. A man who is seemingly pure evil turns out to really just be a man who is torn apart over his unrequited love for a girl he maybe could have won over had he not gotten all caught up in the whole Dark Arts thing. Poor Snape was still so in love with Harry Potter’s mom that his freaking Patronus was a doe, just like hers, and he died looking into Harry Potter’s eyes because they reminded him of her eyes. AWWW!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some really racy fan fiction to write.
