It seems like there’s always a smattering of new erotic technology making its way over the Pacific Ocean from Japan to our lovely, puritanical shores. Amidst the cuddle cafés, “hostess” clubs, and oral sex delivery services, comes a new venture geared specifically towards women: the vibrator bar.

Located in Shibuya, Tokyo, the Vibe Bar is a cushy spot filled with over 300 vibrators from domestic and international brands. The vibrators are mounted on the wall behind the bar in the stead of the traditional vodka and tequila bottles. They’re also placed atop each guest’s table. The concept behind the bar is “see, touch, and feel,” and with the bar exclusively for women and couples at 2,500 yen a pop (about $25), we can guess that the feeling is worth it. However, the proprietors want to stress that this isn’t a typical “happening” sex bar that Japan is known for. It’s a little bit classier than that. These are vibrators for ladies and couples, where the laws of try-before-you-buy may or may not apply.

Visitors to Vibe Bar can perhaps work out the semantics of their trip beforehand at Love Joule, a love and sex bar dedicated to women. Specifically, a dildo-lined bar that’s advertised as a safe zone for masturbation talk. Which should encourage you to go visit Japan immediately because not only does this country have a place where women can publicly rub one out, but they also have the pre-gaming bar for strategics.
