In case you were wondering, May is International Masturbation Month. It also marks the release of We-Vibe’s 2016 Passion Report, a study that delves into all things self-love! The survey asked over 1000 men and women about their masturbation routine and desires, showcasing some (very) interesting findings.

We stick to our routine

Somewhat unsurprisingly, when we figure out what turns us on we stick with it. 62% of those surveyed said that they followed a masturbation routine, whether they be using a vibrator or watching porn.

Women are more likely to use sex toys than men (again, unsurprising), with 53% revealing it is the best way to spice up their fantasy, while only 22% of men agreed. Men are internet porn advocates, with 91% stating that watching new material is the best way to get off.

Certain celebrities make a regular appearance

Not all of us think about celebrities when we are masturbating, but it turns out a significant amount do. 33% of males surveyed said they think about a celeb when self lovin’, and 19% of women were also on board.

The stars that top the masturbation charts? For men it is J.Lo, Carrie Underwood, and Jennifer Lawrence, and for women it’s Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum, and Adam Levine. (Now that would be an awards ceremony we would all tune in on).

We all lie about our sex lives

Well this is an obvious revelation. According to We-Vibe, 22% of respondents said they never spoke openly about their sex lives and 49% said they have understated or exaggerated their sexual activity. Overall, 27% of men didn’t speak about their sex lives, compared to 16% of women. Women, are more open – go figure.

thats-gross

The lesson here? Bite the bullet and try and communicate with your partner about what works for you! Oh and get on board with masturbation month, you’re worth it!
