As the online dating landscape continues to grow at high speed, Match.com continues to know what to expect! For the sixth year in a row they have surveyed over 5000 singles across the United States to let us all in on the do’s and don’ts of single life in 2016.
Where to find great dates?
ONLINE (obviously)! 33% of singles met their last first date through online dating, and 26% met their last first date through a friend. 93% are more likely to get married if they have met online, and 78% are more likely to get a second date. If you haven’t signed up already, sort it out!
What to eat and drink?
Firstly, you are 107% LESS likely to get a second date if you skip dinner or drinks. SO chow down on sushi, as it ups your chances by 170%. If you order cocktails, you boost your odds by 137%. An expensive restaurant may seem like a golden ticket, but you have a 50/50 chance of getting another date, and after-dinner drinks sit at a 57% chance – it seems we care more about what we are eating and drinking then what time or where we go!
What to talk about?
DO talk about politics — it ups your chances by 91%. DON’T talk about sports or your ex (the second you should already be aware of)! DO talk about the economy; 41% of women want you to be aware of it.
When should you go on a date?
60% of singles prefer an evening date, and 39% want to go out on a Saturday night. If you stick it out for two and a half hours, you are more likely to get a second date.
*When it comes to kissing… expect anything. Only 50% of singles think a ‘good’ first date ends with a kiss… Go with your gut!*
